TruDenta FAQs

What Is TruDenta?

TruDenta is a holistic approach to chronic headaches and related symptoms that actually treats the root of the problem rather than simply masking the symptoms. Derived from sports medicine techniques, TruDenta focuses on the muscles and nerves in the head, neck, and jaw.

What is TruDenta used for?

TruDenta is primarily used to treat pain from headaches and migraines, but it can also be used to help resolve pain in the face, jaw, and neck. Even tinnitus, or ringing in the ears, can be resolved with TruDenta. The common thread is that all of these symptoms often originate from unbalanced forces within the head caused by bad posture, dental work, or trauma to the face or head. TruDenta provides a lasting solution that doesn’t simply treat your pain, but resolves the underlying cause.

How does TruDenta work?

TruDenta starts with a detailed, computer-assisted evaluation of your head, neck, jaw, and health history. If TruDenta is indicated for your case, treatment will last around 50 minutes. Several proven, FDA-approved techniques are used to retrain the muscles and nerves that connect to the trigeminal nucleus. Depending on the severity of your condition, you may need one to 12 weekly treatments to achieve full and long-lasting relief.

Is TruDenta Right for Me?

You may be a candidate for TruDenta if you experience one or more headaches per week or miss two or more days of work per month due to headaches. Other indicators include pain in your face, neck, jaw, shoulders, or arms that has lasted for more than a year, as well as ringing or a full sensation in your ears. Your orthodontist will perform a full evaluation to determine whether TruDenta is the right choice for you.

What happens during a TruDenta exam?

First, we use a patented TruDenta device to measure your mouth as it opens and closes and assess the bite forces for each individual tooth in your mouth. We can then create a digital bite force analysis which shows us the forces and imbalances within your mouth. Next, we use a different device to measure the range of motion in your head and neck to determine whether you have a limited range of motion, another possible contributor to head, neck, and jaw pain. We examine your head, neck, teeth, and jaw and from there, we can begin to put together a diagnosis and find the root cause of your pain.

What is the TruDenta questionnaire?

The TruDenta questionnaire is an important component of the diagnostic process. It may be difficult to answer some of the questions, but the more information we can gather from you, the better. Take some time before your appointment to think back on accidents you may have had over the years, when your pain started, your dental history, etc.

What is TruDenta treatment?

TruDenta treatment is a physical therapy and rehabilitation program that helps you retrain your muscles and correct imbalances and misalignments to resolve headaches and pain for good. While each treatment plan is unique and based on a patient’s individual symptoms, they may include ultrasound therapy, low-level photobiomodulation, microcurrent, and manual muscle therapy. These are all FDA-cleared technologies and treatments.

How long do TruDenta treatments take?

TruDenta treatments are about 50 minutes each. You may need up to 12 weekly treatments in order to resolve your symptoms, but many patients need less. It’s not uncommon for patients to experience relief after their first session.

How much is TruDenta treatment?

The cost of TruDenta treatment depends on the number of treatment sessions you need. We will provide you with a cost estimate during your consultation. In some cases, your insurance may cover some of the costs involved in TruDenta treatment.
